Meme from Baino
What was I doing 10 years ago?
I was living in a great black hole, hanging on by my fingernails following the death of my soul-mate Jack. Dealing with this grief was not easy, while also coming to terms with the loss of my mother and Elly’s leaving the nest for University, both just 20 months earlier. Somehow I found the strength to keep going and made a new life for myself and formed fresh new friendships. There is always light at the end of the dark tunnel if we persevere. Thankfully I found my way to daylight and learned to smell the roses and hear the birds singing once more.
Five snacks I enjoy in a perfect, non weight-gaining world
Since I am, and always was a light weight I’ll change that to being free of health issues!
Dark Chocolate
Ice cream
Pistachio nuts
Fudge
Raspberries
Five snacks I enjoy in the real world
Olives,
Dried fruit – cranberries, apricots, dates, figs
Sweet Pepper biscuits ~ recipe next Monday
Raspberries, in season
Dark Chocolate (small helpings)
Five things I would do if I were a billionaire:
Give Elly & George half!
Move house to a small apartment or bungalow with 2 bedrooms both en-suites, a small lounge, with a bigger kitchen/dining/living room where friends can sit and enjoy a drink while I prepare lunch or dinner. I must have easy access to my beloved internet!
Sponsor a child.
Build a Hospice
Travel a little.
Five jobs that I have had:
Not in any particular order:
‘999’ Emergency Service
Court Clerk
Hot food outlet assistant
Medical Secretary
Substitute teacher
Three of my habits:
I like to be tidy in myself and surroundings
Pay attention to detail
Reading Blogs is now part of the daily diet
Five places I have lived:
I have only lived in three places so far:
Dublin
Wiesbaden, Germany
Co. Antrim
Five people I want to get to know better:
George, my son-in-law
At least four of my blogging friends (more if it is allowed)
Feel free to have a go if you wish.
Comment away I may be slow to get back to you, but promise I will.
Gosh,
Reading your account of where you were ten years ago both strikes a cord (the love of my life didn’t die he just left) and gives me some hope, ten years is a long time, it’s only ten months since my relationship of 17 years ended, but time will pass and seeing other people survive much more painful things than my own exeriences helps…thanks, oh and be grateful you are a light weight, 25g of really dark choc is good for health every day!
Midge
You and I could snack together every day! I love all those (but I don’t know wbout pepper biscuits).
When I did the meme I seem to have missed the one about 5 people I would like to get to know better, hmm, poor attention to detail on my part.
Oooh! Let’s have a virtual party one day! 💡
Can we all come if we bring our favourite snack food, GM?
I also sometimes wonder what I would do if I won a million or two and just like you – the kids ‘end up’ with half! But I love your lists of the true riches of life grannymar; and a dish of ice cream and fresh raspberries would go down a treat right now!
Good on you Grannymar. . .there is always light at the end of the tunnel and I forgot to add blogging as a habit! Thrifty? An engineer with no eye for detail pffft!
MW – time is a great healer. Focus on something positive for each day and give yourself a little reward each week.
Judy – are we twins? Roasted sweet peppers are used in the biscuits. Not long until Monday for the recipe.
TC – how can you miss out on people 😉 they are what makes the world go around.
Steph – a party sounds like a very good idea. What snacks have you in mind.
GA – ice cream and fresh raspberries it is so for the afters at my party!
Baino – do I get a gold star? You better pack your case if you want to come to my party!
Loving the list, Gannymar. I’m o glad you learned to smell the roses and hear the birds singing once more. Strange but the roses and bird-singing are always there but selectively disappear when we want them most.
Now, about the sweet pepper biscuits…..
You deserve to win the lotto grannymar
Mike
Can you arrange it? 🙄
