Grannymar’s Rules for Life

Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.

Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, and wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.

Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.

All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

  1. Oh GrannyMar . . .tut tut . . . Don’t you ever get really crabby and want to say “life’s a bitch and then you die” – you’re sooooo sweet. I agree with the sentiments by the way 🙂

  2. Baino I tried that one in my teenage years! I am still here and might have to hang around for another decade or so. If I was crabby all the time nobody would want to talk to me and the time would drag.

  3. Grannymar,

Old sayings become “old” because they are true. Here’s one.

” Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up from laughing and loving, totally worn out and screaming” WOO HOO what a ride”!

Keep smilin’ Grannymar, and have a great day!!!!!

  4. Nancy you have such a store of wonderful stories, more than enough to keep a blog going for at least a year.

Go on, put us all to shame and get started!

  5. All sayings good and true! (I like reading the comments as well. They reveal good things too.)
